This story of Americans who traveled to Spain during the Civil War there is so readable. The clarity of the writing, the flowing narrative completely enveloped me. It helped me understand the complexity of that war in a way that has eluded me in the past. Thank you to Adam Hochschild for writing this brilliant book.
